1. These terms
These terms cover the Caravan browser extension and this website. By using either, you agree to them. How Caravan handles data is explained in the privacy policy.
2. What Caravan is
Caravan is a free tool that shows the price history of products on online stores. The history is built by its users ("travelers"): each time a traveler opens a product, the price they see joins a shared history.
3. Prices are for information only
- Prices come from what travelers saw on store pages, from Caravan's weekly checks, and from public archived copies of pages. They can be wrong, out of date or incomplete.
- Dates in the history show when a traveler saw a price, not the exact moment the store changed it.
- Caravan doesn't sell anything and isn't part of any purchase. The store's own page, price and terms are what count. Always check them before you buy.
- Caravan isn't responsible for buying decisions made using its information.
4. Stores and discount codes
Caravan isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any store shown in it. Store names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to say which store a price came from.
Discount codes shown in Caravan come from the stores' own programs. The store's terms apply to them, and they can change, run out or stop working at any time.
5. Playing fair
Please don't:
- send fake prices, or try to change the history in a misleading way
- flood Caravan with requests, use automated tools against it, or try to get around its limits
- try to access data or systems that aren't meant for you, or interfere with Caravan working for others
- use Caravan for anything unlawful
Caravan may ignore, remove or block activity that breaks these rules.
6. The shared history
The prices you add become part of the shared history. You allow Caravan to store them and show them to everyone, also after you stop using it. Using Delete my data removes the link between those prices and your traveler code, as explained in the privacy policy.
7. No guarantees
Caravan is provided "as is", without promises that it will always work, be available, or be accurate. Features can change, and Caravan or parts of it may stop at any time.
8. Limits of responsibility
As far as the law allows, Caravan and the people behind it aren't liable for any loss or damage from using, or not being able to use, Caravan or its information, including money spent or saved on purchases.
9. For website owners: CaravanBot
To keep price histories up to date, Caravan's server revisits public product pages about once a week. Its requests identify themselves as CaravanBot. It:
- reads and follows your robots.txt, including any crawl delay
- waits at least 5 seconds between requests, and backs off when a site refuses it
- reads only the product's name and price, never accounts, carts or personal data
- never visits stores whose terms don't allow automated tools
To stop it, add this to your robots.txt. It takes effect on its next visit:
User-agent: CaravanBot
Disallow: /
Price history from the Internet Archive is read from archive.org's public copies, not from your website.
10. Law
These terms follow the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
11. Changes and contact
If these terms change, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Using Caravan after a change means you accept the new terms.
